Fruit provides numerous benefits. In general, incorporating fruit into part of a healthy lunch can be a really great way for employees to sustain energy throughout the day.
Generally, the health benefits of fruit are:
- It is an excellent source of vitamins and minerals, including folate, vitamin C and potassium.
- Fruit provides a great source of fibre, which can help to maintain a healthy gut and prevent digestion problems.
- Eating fruit regularly can help to lower the risk of heart disease, stroke, and some types of cancer.
- Fruit contributes to a healthy, balanced diet and tastes great.
Keeping this in mind, the Group Human Resource department organised a gift of fruits to all employees in April. This is to remind everyone to make good food choices and to continue to eat healthy.
“Eating healthy is often overlooked by everyone, even those who exercise rigorously. A healthy diet goes hand in hand with exercising and sleeping well. Therefore, everyone needs to watch what they eat,” said GHR Director Jeffrey Quah adding that the type of food we consume is also important.
“Go for fresh where possible even when it comes to snacks. It is very easy to over-indulge in a pack of chips or sweets especially when we are under stress at work. This is why the company decided to provide fruits to everyone as a healthy snacking option,” he said.
