Eye-opening Environment Day for Paramount employees

Paramount celebrated World Environment Day with an awareness session on June 22, 2023, at Co-labs Coworking Shah Alam featuring an insightful talk and interactive booths. The event was also ‘live’ streamed so that those who were not able to join in the physical event could do so online.

Over 150 Paramount employees across the Paramount Group celebrated Environment Day on Thursday, 22 June 2023. The event was kick-started by Deputy Group CEO, Benjamin Teo followed by a talk from UTAR Associate Professor Environmental Science and Technology, Dr Gulzaniya Issabayeva to who spoke on ‘Sustainable Waste Management Practises.’

During the session, employees also learnt about:

•How the various grades of recyclable materials are categorised

•The many components in items such as electronics and children’s toys and which parts are recyclable

•Composting which turns food waste into fertiliser

Aside from the conventional method of composting, our partner Bio Terra Solutions also introduced the bokashi-composting method which produces a pre-compost mass. After the initial stage of fermentation, this mass will need to be mixed with soil to continue the process of decomposition to finally produce high nutrient soil.

Last but not least, there was a special appearance by Refiller Mobile – Malaysia’s 1st Zero Waste store on wheels. This is to instill awareness on how we can repurpose plastic containers to refill on personal and household essentials instead of buying new products. This helps reduce the number of plastic containers going to the landfill.
