Petaling Jaya, 27 May 2016: Paramount Property, the property development arm of Paramount Corporation Berhad (Paramount) today opened the doors to its first retail centre, Utropolis Marketplace, bringing to reality the fourth critical component of its first university metropolis, Paramount Utropolis.
Paramount Utropolis is a 21.7-acre township in Glenmarie, Shah Alam, anchored by the 10-acre flagship campus of KDU University College (KDU UC) which opened its doors in January 2015. The other core components of the university metropolis consist of residential, commercial and retail elements which together, bring to life Paramount Utropolis’ promise of being an integrated, seamless live-and-learn, work-and-play environment. The first of the residential components, comprising Utropolis Suites serviced apartments, were handed over to purchasers in December 2015. The commercial component, comprising SOHO’s, is currently under construction.
Speaking at the launch, Paramount’s Group Chief Executive Officer, Jeffrey Chew said, “The opening of Utropolis Marketplace is significant in that it is Paramount Property’s first retail offering, and marks a major milestone in the development of our unique university metropolis concept. This university metropolis concept is the realisation of our strength-through-synergy business strategy of locating our two businesses of Paramount Property and Paramount Education in one location.”
Utropolis Marketplace is a two-storey retail centre, with over 110,000 sq ft in nett lettable space. The opening of the centre today was marked by the opening of SAM’s Groceria, a premium Malaysian grocer. SAM’s Groceria occupies 27,000 sq ft of ground floor space. Other tenants include dining and retail outlets as well as service-based businesses, all carefully selected to meet the everyday needs of the nearby KDU UC community along with that of residents and employees of the nearby Glenmarie neighbourhood.
Speaking at the opening of SAM’s Groceria also on the same day, its Managing Director, Datuk Wira (Dr) Haji Ameer Ali bin Mydin said, “We are pleased to be opening our first outlet which is catered to the communities in Shah Alam. At SAM’s Groceria Utropolis, customers can expect unparalleled shopping experience alongside a wide selection of both local and imported products.”
Utropolis Marketplace will also engage the Shah Alam community with an exciting series of events.
