Paramount is Founding Partner in UOW Malaysia’s Sustainability Living Lab Initiative
Paramount is proud to share that it is playing a key role in supporting the University of Wollongong Malaysia (UOW Malaysia) as it embarks on an exciting new journey toward environmental leadership. On 23 April 2025, UOW Malaysia held the soft launch of its Sustainability Living Lab (SLL)—a bold initiative that integrates sustainability into all aspects of campus life, from education and research to operations and community outreach.
What makes the SLL unique is its quadruple helix model—a collaborative framework that brings together academia, industry, government, and the community to co-create real-world sustainability solutions. Paramount is honoured to be one of the Founding Partners, joining forces with Evercomm, Thermamax Sdn Bhd, and Signature Manufacturing Sdn Bhd to co-develop pilot projects and mentor student innovators.
The context for this Paramount-UOW Malaysia collaboration actually set root in 2023, with the goal to engage and leverage with the academia to advance innovation for sustainable construction waste management.
The reason is because good waste management not only ensures legal compliance, but it can also protect the health and safety of our workers as well as the environment while saving costs and reducing expenses for disposal.
This year, as this initiative has grown in leaps and bounds, Paramount continues actively supporting this cause by sponsoring student-led Decarbonization Theme Projects and offering our sites as real-life testing ground for ideas developed. These efforts not only contribute to the university’s goals but also align with our own sustainability aspirations.
This partnership reflects our continued dedication to nurturing innovation, supporting education, and creating low-carbon solutions that make a real difference—not just on campus, but for communities everywhere.
The soft launch of SLL was held in conjunction with the School of Engineering’s 6th EUReS Symposium, including Capstone Project Innovation Pitching on decarbonization and engineering student exhibition of sustainable prototypes. Speakers and guests included representatives from MRANTI, AUSTRADE, Global Tunikara and the Sea Monkey Project. Industry Advisors for the capstone projects comprised NovaAir Industrial Gases, Square Cloud Asia, Babylon Vertical Farms, Intellogic Technology, Stets Malaysia, SWA Water Malaysia, and Renergist Sdn Bhd who are guiding students in developing practical, industry-relevant sustainability.
